In line with its promise
to ease transportation challenges, the Delta State government has commissioned
130 brand new busses. They include 100 Toyota Hiace busses and 30 Inness high
capacity busses.
The commissioning which
was held in Asaba, the Delta State capital recently had in attendance, senor
public officials including the state governor, Emmanuel Uduaghan and the Commissioner
for Transportation, Rowland Ben Igbakpa.
Speaking during the ceremony,
Igbakpa disclosed that the state government has also approved the construction
of 12 .55 kilometers of BRT system in Warri, the third largest in Africa.
“In line with bringing the
dividends of democracy to the people of Delta State, today, 130 busses were commissioned
by the Directorate of Transport. The administration of Emmanuel Uduaghan is
determined to remove all rickety buses form our roads and assure that Deltans
move around in comfortable vehicles,” Igbapka said.
With the commissioning,
the state now has a total of 700 Toyota busses, 130 Marco Polo busses and 30
Inness high capacity buses.
