BEHOLD ANGEL UFUOMA, NEW FACE OF NOLLYWOOD

A new wind is blowing across the third largest movie making tradition, Nollywood. And that new wind is none other than fast rising actress, Angel Ufuoma. BASKET MOUTH, JULIET IBRAHIM TO HOST AFRIMMA

Organisers of African Muzik Magazine Awards (AFRIMMA), have unveiled the list of nominees for the maiden edition, which holds in Texas, United States, on July 26, at the Eisemann Center, Richardson, Texas. Commenting, Anderson Obiagwu, founder/CEO of Big A Entertainment said his company was determined to sustain the drive towards a world-class African awards show. "This event will not only celebrate the music of Africa but also celebrate the unique sounds, culture and artistes who tell the stories of our continent as a whole. Meanwhile, Wizkid, Iyanya, Davido, and Flavour including two Ghanaian acts, Sarkodie and Shatta Wale, and an Ivorian act, DJ Arafat, will lock horns in the Best Male West Africa category. CENSORS BOARD APPROVES 36 FILMS FOR MAY

The National Film and Video Censors Board (NFVCB), has approved a total of 36 films for the month of May. In a statement signed by the Board’s Acting Head, Corporate Affairs, NFVCB, Abuja, Caesar .O. Kagho, the Board disclosed that out of the 36 films, 19 were English, eight were Yoruba, seven were Hausa and only one was a Bini language based movie. A break down revealed that there were only two films in the 12 category. They are Millennium Parents and Parents Guard. 15 movies were classified 15 . They are Asepamo,   Auren Bana, Oyoyo Nwa, Omo Jayejaye, Bunayya, The Great Omenuku, Scars of Evil, Owo Pension, Tsakani Na Dake and Night Nurse . The statement also disclosed that movies classified 18 are Women’s Right, Osenamie, Akobi Mi, Mata Da Kudi, Native Fowl, Pains of Poverty, Igba Iwase, and Tarayya . Other movies approved are Bankwana Da Masoyi, My American Dream, Olabisi Oloyinbo, What a Pain, Fayo Yemi, Egg of Justice and Itoro’s Tears.

ACC MARKS ANTI-PIRACY DAY

The Anti Counterfeiting Coalition of Nigeria (ACC ), in conjunction with NIROPHARM, marked this year’s edition of the World Anti-Counterfeiting Day in Lagos, June 5, with a visit to media houses. Themed Say No To Fake: You Could Be The Next Victim, the ACC team was led by flutist and Chairman of ACC’s Publicity Committee,  Tee Mac Omatsola Iseli. Commenting, Tee Mac said that this year’s theme was chosen because of the NGO’s mission which is to drive home the dangers of counterfeiting and its attendant risks. “The truth is that it could happen to anybody; nobody is immune to the dangers of fake and counterfeit products. The Nigerian government, brand owners, and the general public suffer as a consequence of this illicit trade. It is for this reason that the ACC, in conjunction with NIROPHARM are collaborating to create awareness on the issue,” Tee Mac said. MONIQUE, SWAT TEAM, OTHERS FOR SEGUN SHOBAYO'S ALBUM LAUNCH

All is set for the launch of Segun Shobayo, KSA’s ex-guitarist’s debut album which holds on Sunday, June 15, at the Blue Ribbon Centre, Lagos. Shegesho as he is popularly known jetted back home for the release of his debut album entitled I Command My Hands To Praise The Lord, a couple of weeks back amid promises that the album would soon be released into the Nigerian market. Powered by Royalty Christian Centre, the launch would also feature an album release concert featuring the likes of Monique, Big Bob, Swat Team, Royal Minstrel, Tosin Sosax and Sax Tee among a host of others. DAY MY WIFE ORDERED ME TO AUTOGRAPH CRAZY FAN'S BOOBS-RAS KIMONO

Rub-a-dub reggae music veteran, Ras Kimono, has sensationally revealed how his wife compelled him to autograph a fan’s boobs at a show in Italy about two decades ago when he traveled to that country for a concert. In a chat with Ayo Lawal, the singer who has a string of successful albums under his belt recounted the experience. “An experience I had was in Italy when two ladies walked up to me. The first one took off her under wear and asked me for an autograph on her thigh while the other took off her bra and asked for an autograph as well.  I was amazed and there I stood with my mouth agape but my wife, Cybil, said ‘man sign it' and I signed; it was indeed crazy!” Kimono recalled. The reggae musician was sharing his most weird experience with female fans when he made the revelation. The couple have been married for almost three decades and have several kids. His eldest daughter, Oge Kimono, has since taken after her dad’s steps.

12 YEARS AFTER DADDY SHOWKEY DROPS SHOWKEY SHOW

Ghetto Soldier, Daddy Showkey, is poised to break his 12 year musical silence. The musician has completed work on his latest effort entitled Showkey Show , an 8 tracker album which should hit the Nigerian music scene any time soon. “Ghetto Soldier, Daddy Showkey is back and bigger. Watch out for his latest album entitled Showkey Show ,” the producer of the album, Sheriff, told toniogagablog in an exclusive chat at Jahoha Studios, Lagos.   "This is Daddy Showkey in a whole new light never seen before. So far we have recoded five tracks and it’s just getting better,” Sheriff added. Tracks in the album include Celebration Time and Big Daddy Is Coming among others. Showkey kick-started his career in Africa’s largest ghetto, Ajegunle, in the early 1990s alongside the likes of Daddy Fresh and Pretty Sexy all members of the now defunct Pretty Busy Boys. Past hit tracks include Diana and Fire Fire to mention a few.
