DELTA STATE BOOSTS TRANSPORTAION

In line with its promise to ease transportation challenges, the Delta State government has commissioned 130 brand new busses. They include 100 Toyota Hiace busses and 30 Inness high capacity busses. The commissioning which was held in Asaba, the Delta State capital recently had in attendance, senor public officials including the state governor, Emmanuel Uduaghan and the Commissioner for Transportation, Rowland Ben Igbakpa. Speaking during the ceremony, Igbakpa disclosed that the state government has also approved the construction of 12 .55 kilometers of BRT system in Warri, the third largest in Africa. “In line with bringing the dividends of democracy to the people of Delta State, today, 130 busses were commissioned by the Directorate of Transport. The administration of Emmanuel Uduaghan is determined to remove all rickety buses form our roads and assure that Deltans move around in comfortable vehicles,” Igbapka said. CENSORS BOARD AXES HALF OF A YELLOW SUN

Movie buffs looking forward to watching Half of A yellow Sun , which makes its cinema debut across the country today can kiss goodbye to their dreams. Reason-The National Film & Videos Censors Board (NFVCB), has suspended the screening of the big budget epic. According to sources, the move became necessary due to scenes in the epic which the board considers inappropriate for viewing. “This is authoritative. I can assure you that all those waiting to see Half of A Yellow Sun this weekend are in for a huge disappointment as the movie has been suspended by the industry's regulator, the NFVCB. The implication is that after a successful premiere, the movie cannot air within the territory of Nigeria until certain scenes considered inappropriate are edited.” The film is an adaptation of Ngozi Chimamanda Adichie’s award winning novel, Half of A Yellow Sun starring BAFTA award winner, Chiwetel Ejiofor.   Nigerian based American singer, Sebastian Okonkwo aka De’boyed, has released two hot singles entitled Lets Celebrate and Chinyere as a build up to the release of his debut album. In a telephone chat with tonyogagablog, De’ boyed who has built a relatively strong fan base in the US said: “Music lovers in Nigeria should watch out for something new and exciting. OBA ADETONA MARKS 54 YEARS ON THE THRONE, CELEBRATES 80TH BIRTHDAY

All is set for the celebration of the 80th birthday anniversary of Nigeria’s longest serving monarch, His Majesty, Oba Dr. S.K. Adetona, Awujale and Paramount Ruler of Ijebuland. The disclosure was made last week Tuesday at the Oba’s palace during a press conference to unveil plans for the celebration. According to the Vice Chairman Sub Planning Committee, Chief Fassy Yusuf: “On Wednesday April 2, His Majesty, Sikiru Kayode Adetona, the 58th Awujale and Paramount Ruler of Ijebu Kingdom clocked 54-years on the throne. He is currently the longest serving First Class and Paramount King in Nigeria. He will also be 80 years on Saturday, May 10 and this provides us with a spectacular opportunity to celebrate a man who has contributed so much to the growth of Nigeria and the Ijebu people. Gbenga Adeyinka to donate N.5m to Nyanya blast victims

Comedian of the Federal Republic, Gbenga Adeyinka the 1 st has declared that his comedy show, Laffmattaz , will donate the sum of N.5million to the victims of Nyanya bomblast which claimed over a 100 lives. The comedian made this declaration during the Ibadan leg of his annual comedy show: “My heart goes out to all the victims of the recent bomb blast in Nyanya, Abuja. A lot of lives were lost and at Laffmattaz , we should be doing all we can to alleviate the suffering of our people. We are making a donation of N500, 000 to the victims of the blast.” Meanwhile, Intercontinental Distillers Limited, one of the sponsors of Laffmattaz entertained guests during the show which kicked-off with the dramatic entrance of Gbenga Adeyinka on a throne bourne by four hefty men amid fanfare.
