The stage is set for the
seventh edition of The African Film Festival and
Academy Awards (ZAFAA), which holds in Lagos between October 28 and October 31
at Eko Hotel & Suites Victoria Island, Lagos.
According
to Kenneth Chamberlain, Head of Logistics & Marketing of the platform, this
year’s edition will not only be held in Lagos, Nigeria, it will also attract the
presence of the British Film Institute and the London Metropolitan Film School
among a host of others.
Commenting
at an event to unveil the 2015 edition at a media parley at NTA, Victoria
Island, Lagos, Chamberlain said: “ZAFAA Awards 2015 is holding in Lagos Nigeria
and it is going to be bigger and better. It will feature lots of talented
artistes, directors and producers from across Africa.
“We are
bringing ZAFAA to Nigeria because Nigeria is the most populous black nation in the
world and besides, the organisers are Nigerians so we want to celebrate our
cultural heritage and diversity,” Chamberlain added.
So what
will be different about the Lagos edition? “What will be different is that
other academy awards may not have the British Film Institute and the London
Metropolitan Film School coming to train Nigerians from October 29 to October
31 and then, bring them back to London for a continuation of the training next year
when the award returns to the UK. This is a big opportunity for Nigerian
motion picture and we must harness it.”
Presnt at
the event were officials of NTA, Nollywood stakeholders, actors and actresses including ZAFAA officials among a host of others.
Partners
for ZAFAA 2015 includes NTA and the British Film Institute.
