With the coronavirus pandemic ravaging mankind, the reverse seems to be the case in Nigeria.
However, government continues to harp on the need for people to observe Covid 19 protocols raising a debate as Nigerians grapple with the consequences of the deadly virus.
Reporter, Tony Ogaga went to town and today he brings you what Nigerians feel about Covid 19 restrictions and its effect on society.
Sonny Nwadike, a journalist who works with a leading newspaper said: “We have Covid-19 fatigue because our people do not trust the government. We are also too religious. We do not believe that there is Covid or that it can affect them but the truth is that Covid 19 is real.
Eugene Onu a medical doctor said:
“Nigeria, just like the rest of the world was thrown into emergency by the virus. However, Nigerians are very suspicious of government. There is mistrust of the political class based on antecedents. But the fact remains that COVID 19 is real! It is scientific and can be lethal.
Vivian Adagha, a business woman is neither here nor there. She said: “I am neither here nor there. Though there are reports of death on the news and papers, I don’t know what to believe anymore because nobody is dying around me. The whole thing looks like a scam.
Nancy Karo, a student says: “I don’t believe it is real and I don’t believe in conspiracy theories but what is going on is stranger than fiction. We have been denied our rights to move around freely under the guise of Covid 19. I believe there is a bigger agenda.
Mrs. Sarunmi, a health worker who resides in Ikotun, Lags said: “The truth is that there is a lot of ignorance and over religiosity among our people. Covid 19 is real and people are dying. It has nothing to do with conspiracy y theory. This is science.
Segundo Samuel a bus driver is calling for caution. He says: “Covid 19 is real. It has not killed anyone around me but I need to be proactive. I may not have much education but I believe in science.
