| AMBASSADOR LOIUS MNGUNI RECEIVING AN AWARD FROM MICHAEL PARISH THE AWARD ORGANISER |
All is set for the 2015
edition of Africa Film Development Awards (AFDA), which holds in Zanzibar in
the second quarter of 2015. According to Michael Parish, the organiser of the
awards which seeks to recognise and reward creativity across the continent, the
2015 edition will be bigger and better!
“Plans have been wrapped
up for a successful hosting of the 2015 edition of the awards in Zanzibar in
July 2015. It promises to be an eventful and exciting show as top stakeholders
in the movie industry across Africa will be in attendance; AFDA is a Pan
African award which recognises and rewards excellence in the African motion
picture industry.”
The 2014 edition of AFDA
was held in grand style during the 17th Zanzibar International Film Festival on June 22 at the historic 450 years Old fort amphi-theatre by the Indian Ocean
in Zanzibar.
According to Parish, “AFDA
2014 Zanzibar demonstrated another milestone towards actualizing that mission
of distributing Africa sensitive movies envisioned on continual sensitization
of the African mind.”
Nigeria’s Andy Boyo won
the award for Best African Film
Producer for his movie, Spirit of The Assassin.
